Theft

On the 18th of April at 10:00am, Belleville Police attended a business in the city’s north end regarding a male who was stealing personal property which belonged to employees who were cleaning the business.  The male left prior to police arrival; however, following the police investigation, he was located at a nearby hotel.  As a result, 40-year-old Marco Brosseau of no fixed address was arrested and charged with theft under $5000 and Possession of stolen property.  He was released on an Appearance Notice with a court date in May.

 

Arrested on Warrants

On the 18th of April at 7:30pm, while on patrol on North Front Street, a Belleville Police officer observed a person known to them who was wanted on outstanding arrest warrants.  As a result, 28-year-old Nicholas Semple of no fixed address was arrested without incident on the strength of the warrants which were for break and enter, breach of probation and fail to appear for court.  He was held in custody for a bail hearing. 

 

Fail to Comply with Probation

On the 18th of April at 8:45pm, Belleville Police were called to an address in the city’s east end regarding a male who was reportedly swinging a scooter at a group of people.  Police located the individual and discovered that he was bound by numerous Probation Orders issued by the Ontario Court of Justice.  As a result, 38-year-old Stephen Beaudrie of no fixed address was arrested and charged with 11 counts of breaching his probation.  He was held for a bail hearing.

 

Observant citizen leads to arrest for Impaired Driving

On the 20th of April at 6:30pm, an observant citizen believed a vehicle they were following was being driven by an impaired driver.  The vehicle was swerving all over the road before stopping at a nearby residence.  When the driver exited his vehicle, he was observed to be exhibiting signs consistent with being impaired.  A short time later, the male returned to the vehicle and was attempting to drive again.  The citizen had reported the incident to the Belleville Police who responded to the address.  Upon their arrival and subsequent police investigation, police arrested and charged 60-year-old Graham Robinson of Belleville with impaired driving and over 80.  He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in May.  His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days. 

 

Pedestrian injured when struck by bicycle

On the 19th of April at 9:30pm, a 65-year-old female was struck by a bicycle while walking on a sidewalk in the area of 59 North Front St.  The female sustained physical injuries and was transported to the Belleville General Hospital.  The driver of the bicycle fled the area.  The driver of the bicycle was described to be wearing dark clothing and possibly having “salt and pepper” coloured hair.

Theft from business leads to weapons charges

On the 21st of April at 3:00pm, two males were suspected of stealing items from a business on North Front. St.  Employees contacted the Belleville Police to report the theft.  An officer attended the business and obtained a description of the suspects.  A second officer was in the area and observed two males fiting the description departing the area.  The officer followed the males until a photo of the suspects from the original theft was obtained.  The officer was able to confirm they were the same persons from the theft incident.  As a result, the officer arrested the males for the theft from the store. 

While conducting a search incident to arrest, the officer located a loaded flare gun which had been painted black, three additional flares and .22 caliber ammunition in the possession of one of the males.  As a result, 40-year-old Kenneth Felker of no fixed address was charged with possess a weapon for a dangerous purpose, use intimidation firearm while committing an offense, possession of a firearm or weapon contrary to prohibition order, possession of firearm or weapon contrary to prohibition order (intimidation firearm) and two counts of fail to comply with a Probation Order.  The male was held for a bail hearing.
